Nanny Background Check - Do You Know Who Is Watching Your Kids?

By Jamie Randall

There is nothing in the world more precious to us than our children. Hiring someone to take care of them during the day while we go to work is a decision that must not be taken lightly. Let's face it, we've all seen stories on the news or heard through the grapevine about a nanny who was stealing money from a family or hitting and abusing a child. Even more frightening is the thought that you could come home one day to an empty house because the nanny kidnapped your baby!

Some people may say I'm overreacting. But I say we can never be too careful when deciding who we let into our homes, especially when it comes to choosing who will look after our precious children. Wouldn't you agree?

This is why I ran a thorough nanny background check on each applicant before I chose a nanny for my baby. Of course I did the normal checking of references first, the way any reasonable person would. But obviously the nanny is only going to tell you about the good experiences she has had. If a family fired her for stealing or beating their child, do you really think she would use them as a reference?

The only way to know with absolute certainty is to run a complete background check on her. You'll find out about any criminal or civil issues she has had and obtain a full employment history. Then you can make a truly informed decision.

Up until a few years ago, running a background check on someone would cost several hundred dollars and usually involved hiring a private investigator. But these days there are websites that can provide an instant background report for a fraction of the cost. Plus you can do it anonymously right from the comfort of your own home.

If you are concerned about the person who watches your children, you should run your own nanny background check on her. The service I recommend is at Instant-Background-Checker.com. I've used them myself and I couldn't be happier with their service.
