Fantasy Dress and Costumes for Kids and Babies

By Sarah Freeland

When you get into the Gothic style of life you begin to realize that there is a large component that allows the attitude that "anything is possible." It is a very romanticized and hugely popular way of life. Part of this "anything goes" belief is that there are limitless possibilities in reality. Many may call it playing dress up, but to many in the gothic culture fantasy dress is just a continued part of the "anything goes" life. The fantasies most common with the little ones are the probably the fairies, pirates, witches, and wizards. The look for these young ones is quite similar to their larger counterparts.

For the typical fairy you would see a net, or tulle skirt, over a silky or satin skirt with a silky or satin top. The most important part of this outfit would be the wings with varying materials depending on the occasion and the exact age of the young one in question. The pirate would have his red and black striped shirt, with his leather or vinyl pants. The witch and wizard look is classically black with some colors of green, purple, or red. You might find some striped leggings for the witch in the bunch, but look for that classic cape for the wizard.

You may be thinking, "but it isn't Halloween!" Remember... "Anything is possible." This means that anything goes. The style is part of the culture, which tends to incorporate many different facets of religion and mysticism. Being able to express oneself through dress is seen in their eclectic style.
